Dube TradePort is a catalyst for global trade and a portal between KwaZulu-Natal and the world. King Shaka International Airport
Built to process up to 7.5 million passengers a year, it replaced the old Durban International Airport (DIA), which was decommissioned on the 30 April 2010. The first flight took off without a hitch on 1 May 2010, just over a month before the start of the 2010 FIFA World Cup. The runway length of 3 700 metres will accommodate the latest New Generation Large Aircraft including the A380 Airbus. KSIA is situated at the original La Mercy Airsport, 15 kilometres South of Ballito city centre.

King Shaka Heritage Route
King Shaka Heritage Route is located in Ballito and is one of Ballito's Cultural Sites, it follows in the footsteps of one of the great Zulu Chiefs. King Shaka Zulu

  • High Rock - Where King Shaka Zulu would sit and plan his military tactics
  • Observation Rock - Where King Shaka Zulu would watch his army maneuvers on the flatland below.
  • King Shaka's Spring - Where King Shaka Zulu's handmaidens drew water
  • King Shaka's Pool and Cave - Here King Shaka Zulu bathed and rested
  • Mavivane Execution Rock - Where King Shaka Zulu issued judgment on rebels and enemies on top of this cliff, the rebels and enemies would be clubbed over their heads and thrown onto the rocks below as legend has it.

Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Game Park
The Dolphin Coast is close enough to Zululand to take a drive north and explore the African game reserves. The Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Game Park is approximately 257km north of Ballito. Most of the big game species including lion, cheetah, leopard, elephant, white and black rhinoceros, buffalo, leopard and giraffe live in the reserve. Apart from the game viewing drives, there are also two self-guided auto trails.


The Battle of eNdondakusuka
eNdondakusuka was part of a civil war fought between the forces of Prince Cetshwayo and his brother Mbuyazi, for the right to be king of the Zulus in 1856. Some 15 000 to 25 000 warriors died in this battle, which, when the dust settled, established Cetshwayo as the king of the Zulus. The site, near the northern bank of the Thukela River, can be viewed from Fort Pearson on the opposite bank of the river.

The Dolphin Coast, and surrounding areas, boasts some of the finest golfing turfs in South Africa. These magnificent golf courses are both challenging and unforgettably beautiful, with unique settings and breathtaking views.
